Burning River Fest 2007 raised
over $66,000
for the
Burning River Foundation, which provided the following local
organizations with grants to continue their
work on water-focused
projects:
- The Center for Regional Sustainability (now GreenCityBlueLake Institute) at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History received a $20,000 grant to support a landscape planning process that will help redesign the Museum site to achieve LEED Platinum certification status. This landscape planning process is essential because stormwater runoff and stormwater management are the most serious water quality problems in Greater Cleveland.
- The Wendy Park Foundation received a $20,000 grant to help bring electricity to the historic Coast Guard Station at the mouth of the Cuyahoga River for eco-friendly painting, irrigation and lighting purposes.
- The West Creek Preservation Committee received a $6,000 grant for preservation and restoration work in the West Creek watershed, a tributary of the Cuyahoga River that flows nine miles through the Cleveland suburbs of Parma, Seven Hills, Brooklyn Heights and Independence.
