LOCATION:

Located right at the Historic Coast Guard Station on Whiskey Island. Whiskey Island is located on the immediate western shore of the Cuyahoga River where the river empties in Lake Erie. To get there, head to the lower part of Edgewater State Park located directly off of Ohio Route 2 between the Clifton Boulevard Exit and the West 45th Street Exit.
Get off Ohio Route 2 at the Edgewater Park/Whiskey Island Exit and head north towards Lake Erie. Turn right on the first and only road on your right (now heading east). Keep veering to the right and follow the road as you wind past the Sewer District Plant Operations (on your left). Keep following the road, which will end at the Whiskey Island Marina guard gate. Look for all the Burning River Fest signage that will direct you to parking!

PARKING:
FREE parking will be available (while spots last) on Whiskey Island. Carpooling is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED (4 or more people per vehicle)!

Ohio City Bicycle Co-Op will offer preferred parking to bicyclists in a secure bike valet parking area located just outside the event gate. The parking service is free and will also offer simple mechanical help, information on area cycling activities and cool, recycled bike art.
If you are leaving the event by bicycle after dark (~ 8:30 PM), be aware that lights (white front and red rear) are required by law -- and it's just not smart to ride at night without them -- so OCBC will have bike lights for sale ($15/set) at the valet bike parking area. OCBC will help you install them before you ride home, or if you buy them when you arrive, they will install while you're enjoying the party. Also be aware that you CAN be charged with a DUI for riding your bike under the influence of alcohol!
ATTENDEES:
Burning River Fest has traditionally been an all day, family-oriented, educational event. In 2009, the focus of the Burning River Fest has been scaled back to a celebration/party moreso than a festival. In addition, the types of activities previously associated with Burning River Fest will not be featured in 2009; rather, 2009 is the "Year of the River" and the focus is on celebrating the 40th "rebirth-day" of the Cuyahoga River. The Burning River Fest will feature:
- a later start time
- live music all day and night
- a selection of environmentally friendly, educational exhibits
- local/natural/organic food options and, of course,
- Great Lakes Brewing Company craft beer
This being said, the party is geared more for teenagers/adults and less for children. The Burning River Fest expects to return full scale in 2010. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to see you on August 15th! Please note: pets, coolers, bottles and cans are prohibited at Burning River Fest. A driver's license or state-issued ID will be required for any attendee wishing to drink beer.
